Is there any period in (fashion) history that is more memorable than the decade of the 80s? Some of you may object now and say yes, of course – the 70s! When looking at the fashion trends of back then, it is not exaggerated to say that theses times were truly unique and really extraordinary. This is probably also the reason whey they are readopted again and again by designers.
So in today’s post we travel back in time and visit not only one, but two eras, which could – despite the fact that they are following each other – not be any more different. Let’s pay tribute to this two decades by getting For that, we re-styled two current retro-inspired fall/winter runway looks. The 80s outfit is based on Saint Laurent‘s collection of the season and Diane von Fürstenberg is who we took our cue for the 70s style. Which one do you prefer?
While the 80s were a rather ‘wild’ era, with rocking vibes and a grungy, underground touch (remember Madonna!), women still wanted to look feminine and sexy. High heels and make-up were obligatory – together with studs and leather it makes the perfect contrast that gives the typical 80s outfit its a-little-too-much-feeling. The style of the 70s, on the other side, was still strongly influenced by the hippie movement, but much more grown-up and subtle. Suede booties were a must and build the base of the new empowered working woman.
